Sol Dance Presents: Mose – Cacao Dance Live in Atlanta

Sol Dance Presents:
Mose – Cacao Dance live in Atlanta

Greetings, dear family! This coming Spring on the evening of May 13th, our community converges yet again for the 2nd installment of our “Sol Dance Presents”.  We’ll be connecting the heart, mind, body, and Soul in this one of a kind Ecstatic Dance experience with multi-talented, renowned sound alchemist Mose live mixing his very special blend of organic, electronic sounds from around the world. Sol Dance Co-Founder & Resident DJ, Scott Houston will be on direct support duties alongside talented vocalist Brielle Augila and local talents Brittany Rex + Alberto Roman throughout the evening.

Event Flow:

Through dance, movement & stillness – you will be immersed with awe-inspiring body-mind-spirit connection. After Scott’s set, we will be opening the space with a simple cacao ceremony, facilitated by Bruna Bortolato, to open the heart and activate our senses for this journey into sound. Mose will then inspire movement through the vibrations of music while being joined periodically by our special guest musicians: Alberto Roman, Brielle Augila & Brittani Rex. To close the experience, Sol Dance Co-Founder & Ceremonial MC Maya Lemberg will bring the energy in and down into the earth.

About Mose:

“Great music is that which carries the present minded listener to the doorstep of infinity. All music already exists the musician is here in service to remove a bit of the veil and let some of it through into this physical space. Through the use of a steady hypnotic beat, paired with ethereal voices and melodies we can release into the void and remember who we are - we are one.”

Mose is based in Guatemala where cacao ceremonies and ecstatic dance have had a major influence on his productions and DJ style. It is here that he founded regular cacao dances where members of the community have the opportunity to journey deep into dance while held in a ceremonial container, free of alcohol.

Beyond the multicultural rhythms and the steady hypnotic beat, Mose weaves ephemeral chanting of sacred songs and calls to love, kindness and compassion, often bringing in live musicians to create something improvisational connected with that particular place and time. He creates with the intention to set a foundation for self discovery and the cultivation of a present minded state which offers new insights and deeper clarity in ones purpose.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform movement journey, held in a safe & sacred container.  Most dances are facilitated by a trained DJ specifically chosen for their ability to curate an experience designed to help you move. Through Ecstatic Dance you will find a communal opportunity to connect more deeply with your body and self-expression.

Do I need to know how to dance in order to participate?

Absolutely no dance experience is necessary! In this regard, Sol Dance (and generally any other kind of “Ecstatic Dance” event) becomes the perfect outlet for those who think they “can’t dance”.

We encourage participants to give themselves full permission to be themselves – move how you want to move in every given moment, feel how you feel, etc. There is no way to get it wrong (but please be consensual with others).

Wait... Is this a party?

Believe it or not, Sol Dance is NOT a party. That isn’t to say we don’t have a lot of fun doing what we do, but what we offer is more than a party. First off, Sol Dance is a substance-free environment. We get high off of the music, dance, and communal experience. Moreover, Sol Dance provides an opportunity to go deep within yourself and be physically moved by your body and inner wisdom. While this is also a community event, you can choose for it to be an intimately personal process.

What kind of music can I expect?

With sounds ranging from: soulful, worldly, eclectic, deep, serene, and funky, you can expect a dynamic sonic arrangement from our resident DJs. You can listen to some examples here.

Can I arrive anytime?

You can arrive anytime during the journey, but we highly suggest you get there as the music begins to familiarize yourself with the space and ease your way into the dance.

Can I just come and watch?

We highly encourage 100% of your embodied participation as this is a movement-based experience. That being said, If you would like to stay on a blanket, yoga mat, or even the grass before you feel called to move your body – that’s totally fine!

How can I prepare?

We suggest the following:
Wearing anything that allows you to move comfortably.
Wearing shoes is optional (for outdoor events only!)
Bringing a full water bottle.
Bringing a mat or blanket to sit on the ground or in the grass (for outdoor events!)
Utilizing sun-protection ie. hats, sun glasses, or lotion!
Make sure to bring an open mind & heart!

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! We welcome people of all ages! Our community loves when children are present! Bring the whole family.
