OUR TEAM

Propagating a more authentic & embodied humanity.
Since 2020, our community has grown from 75 dancers to an average of 200+ beating hearts and feet at our monthly dances. We’re grateful to have a connected and engaged community who lives to dance, and a team that lives and breathes the Sol Dance ethos.

Scott Houston
CO-FOUNDER, DIRECTOR, FACILITATOR, RESIDENT DJ
In nearly 15 years of utilizing dance as a healing modality, Scott Houston has come to believe in the inherent wisdom of the body and the power of sound to move it. Scott produces & facilitates events that are truly an open path to healing through a communion with the embodied self.
Scott boasts a uniquely diverse range of sonic capacity that spans across all musical genres, masterfully being able to weave any dance-floor from stillness to climax & all the way back down into the deepest states of bliss + contemplation.
Because of this, Scott is known regionally as the go-to sonic-curator for intentional movement-spaces of all kinds as well as truly unique, high-vibrational community experiences.
As an Atlanta based artist & DJ – Scott is known for his collaborative mindset & appearances at regional festivals, as well as local events, parties, rooftops, warehouses, and gatherings all over the city – specifically through his residency with the chic underground music collective Project B. Maya Lemberg
CO-FOUNDER, FACILITATOR, EMCEE
Maya’s mission is to help people feel at home within their skin. She creates sacred and safe spaces for groups and individuals to drop into themselves, feel and heal. As a psychotherapist, yogi, dancer, vocalist and ceremonial facilitator, she is dedicated to guiding others on their road to living their soul’s most authentic truth. With 20 years of experience in the healing arts, Maya’s trauma-informed facilitation weaves mind, heart, body and spirit in her approach to well-being.
Maya is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and is trained as a yoga teacher and a priestess. She has her own private psychotherapy and healing practice where she sees clients who are ready to step into the fullness of who they are. She is the co-founder of Sol Dance and offers her gifts to the community by leading the opening and closing circle, holding ceremonial group rituals, emceeing the events and setting the tone for what to expect, thus contributing to a grounded, conscientious container.
Maya specializes in somatic psychotherapy, dance-movement practices, expressive-arts therapy, yoga, energy medicine, shamanism and Earth-based spirituality. As a Priestess, she channels Divine Mother for guidance, protection and healing into every event, helping the group ground spirituality into embodied wisdom. She is grateful to facilitate experiences that bring people into intimacy with their hearts and bodies, paving way for deeper connection with self, others, Earth, cosmos and with the sacred breath of life in every present moment.

Laurel Askue

Laurel is our behind-the-scenes administrator. A former Atlanta resident and dedicated member of its conscious dance community, she now resides in Austin, TX. From afar, Laurel helps keep things running smoothly by crafting the Sol Dance newsletters, recruiting vendors, and coordinating collaborator correspondence.
With professional origins in nonprofits (notably ten years at Zoo Atlanta), Laurel shifted to the healing arts in 2018. Beyond Sol Dance, she supports heart-centered entrepreneurs, creatives, and curious humans to access ease and flow in all areas of their lives through the power of letting go.
Rebecca Covin
EVENT MANAGER & VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
My passion and purpose are rooted in living, loving, and fully embracing each moment. Over the years, my personal journey — 18 years of working with children and families, healing trauma, cultivating communication skills, and deepening my understanding of human development — has expanded my spiritual depth and connection to life. Through these experiences, I’ve come to recognize the transformative power of gratitude. By intentionally choosing gratitude as the foundation of my life, it has shaped my thoughts, feelings, and actions, allowing me to move with greater purpose and clarity.
I place my trust in the Creator, the Life Force within us all—a Divine Intelligence that I honor by surrendering to intuition and allowing it to guide me step by step within the unfolding of the Grand Plan.
As I step into my second year as the Event Manager and Volunteer Coordinator for our beloved Sol Dance community, I carry this intention forward. As I organize, prepare, & manage dances – my commitment is to love, support, connect, and nurture the collective spirit of our community so we may grow and thrive together. May we continue to move forward in joy, harmony, and love.
